Installing Windows Fonts on Ubuntu

To install the fonts, all you need to do in Ubuntu is to install the msttcorefonts package. Instructions for installation are given below.

The Truetype Microsoft fonts provided by the package include:

  • Andale Mono
  • Arial Black
  • Arial (Bold, Italic, Bold Italic)
  • Comic Sans MS (Bold)
  • Courier New (Bold, Italic, Bold Italic)
  • Georgia (Bold, Italic, Bold Italic)
  • Impact
  • Times New Roman (Bold, Italic, Bold Italic)
  • Trebuchet (Bold, Italic, Bold Italic)
  • Verdana (Bold, Italic, Bold Italic)
  • Webdings

Run this command in a terminal

$sudo apt-get install msttcorefonts

then flush the font cache

$sudo fc-cache -fv

Make sure you have the 'Universe' repository enable.
